Our Classes
Eliza Corwin Frost offers families a high quality early childhood experience in the most nurturing of environments. Families can choose either morning or afternoon sessions for their child. We consider ourselves to be a community of learners, making collaboration the core of what we do. Each classroom is designed to address the developmental needs and stages that are unique to very young children and our experienced staff makes ECF the perfect learning environment for children and families to begin their journey through early childhood! ECF offers programming for children aging 12 months to five years.
TWO YEAR OLDS
MORNING SESSION: 8:45 - 11:15 AM
AFTERNOON SESSION 12:30 - 3:00 PM
ECF offers 2, 3 and 5 day classes for two year olds. The daily routines and activities they experience at ECF are designed to give children the opportunity to develop attachments to their teachers as they are adjusting to separating from families and caregivers. As teachers build individual connections with each child, they facilitate the development of the social skills and emotional regulation necessary to forming friendships. These relationships provide the foundation for a comfortable, lively community of learners. The day is gently structured to provide plenty of time for the teachers to support children as they independently perform self-care tasks like putting on jackets and using the bathroom while they are learning traditional school routines such as lining up, walking in the hallway and participating in group conversations. Children are asked to identify and articulate feelings when working together to solve problems. Pre-literacy and pre-math skills are embedded in an emergent, developmentally appropriate curriculum and the classroom environment. Both indoor and outdoor play is part of the daily schedule. Children in our two’s program also take part in movement, yoga and music. An after-school enrichment class is offered one day a week, starting in January, at an additional fee.
Tuition: $5,300 annually (2 days/week), $6,890 annually (3 days/week), $8,375 annually (5 days/week)

THREE YEAR OLDS

Our 5 day three year old program, our play based, emergent curriculum continues to focus on the social/emotional confidence that is essential for young minds to absorb academic information in the coming school years. Through literature and hands on projects like art, cooking and collaborative problem solving, children use analytical skills such as comparing and contrasting, making predictions and sequencing. As children become more proficient at self-care tasks, their responsibilities expand to include classroom jobs which nurture their perception of themselves as competent, capable, members of a classroom community. Both indoor and outdoor recreation is part of the daily schedule!

PRE-K (Four Year Olds)
MORNING SESSION: 8:45 - 11:15 AM
AFTERNOON SESSION 12:30 - 3:00 PM
Our four’s program prepares children for kindergarten by incorporating early literacy, critical thinking, creativity, math/science concepts and socialization. Each week’s activities center around a different theme that is both emergent and teacher scaffolded. Our four year olds also experience literacy through a wide variety of books, narration, and oral storytelling. Creativity and fine motor skills are fostered as children use writing utensils, scissors and easels to begin drawing and dictating their thoughts. Concrete, developmentally appropriate activities further develop skills in numbers and operations. Science experiments are planned to assist children in developing critical thinking skills.

JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN (Five Year Olds)
MORNING SESSION: 8:45 - 11:45 AM
Are you looking to give your child an extra year before Kindergarten? In our Junior K program, teachers begin to introduce traditional academics within a child centered, play based classroom. While we continue to implement the emergent curriculum methods used with the younger children at ECF, our Junior K teachers lead children toward in depth exploration and investigation. Using a social studies lens, the children research their community by exploring the nearby village, library and community garden. Teachers work directly with children on handwriting, literacy and math skills at a pace that is individualized and intended to spark their innate curiosity around these subjects.
Tuition: $9,010 annually (5 Days a week)

TOGETHER TIME (starting at 12 months)
MORNING SESSION: 9:00 - 10:30 AM
The Together Time program provides an introduction to nursery school for very young children accompanied by an adult. Our Together Time teacher guides the children through small group play, art activities and a gathering time with songs and stories. The leisurely pace offers plenty of time for exploration and socialization. The program is specially designed for families who want to remain alongside their child while providing a social and experiential foundation in a school setting. While the children are playing, the adults have the opportunity to observe and discuss methods for helping children manage typical classroom situations such as sharing space and materials, taking turns and sitting as a group for a short story. The Together Time program provides the children with a wonderful easy progression into our 2, 3 or 5 day 2’s classes.
